These also produce many eggs-- I have several hens producing over 250 eggs a year at 2 years of age.

BLUE EGG LAYER!! We worked hard to breed for blue egg layers selectively. These are a lovely addition to any flock. They are autosexing, which means that at hatch, we can determine the gender of pullets and cockerels.

These curious little creatures are so friendly--- I have some that follow me around when their name is called. These do well in a coop or out free-ranging.  We have worked hard to keep our flock high quality- that means breeding and selecting the best pullets and cockerels moving forward.  We got our stock from some of the best breeders almost a decade ago and selectively bred for the cream legbar traits.  Our goals have always been that we want to improve and move the breed forward.  We focus on quality---

There are rumors about how flighty these can be-- I find them to be a sweet and chill variety, but when startled- due to their ability to fly-- they can get airborne. They do have the ability to take flight, similar to a leghorn. We have trained ours on poultry netting. Now and then, we have one that will like the other side of the fence. But, considering how easily they could get out.. they rarely do. They like to stay with the rooster in their flock.

We have a few girls who like to go broody but are easily broken. I move the girls off the nest, and after a few days, they are done. They may get a bit vocal but are not aggressive at all. Again, they are very sweet and chill.

We had the opportunity to add some of Christine Simpson's Cream Legbars. This is an unrelated line to what was imported by Green Fire Farms. We feel super blessed because they are gorgeous. The only side note to us adding these to our flock is that the pullets occasionally will have some hyper phenomenalism (reddish blonde feathering in crest). But her line added beautiful blue eggs and those daffy duck yellow legs. Our goal with all our breeds is to maintain integrity and standards, thus breeding for improvement in the line.

Cream Legbar breeding is a balancing act. The only proposed disqualification of the breed is being crestless- a crest is that cute poof of feathers behind their comb. In that lies a bit of a dilemma—the proposed standard calls for roosters to have a straight comb. But, it is hard to have a straight comb and crest- the nature of the crest causes the comb to flop a bit.  So, finding that balance is essential.

I believe in transparency and honesty about our flock- it is rare, but... we occasionally have a pullet or cockerel that lacks a crest- we work hard to find that balance in our breeding to prevent this- but it does happen. We have two main breeding pens- working on double crests in our hens and proper combs in our roosters. Thus, the goal is to produce a beautiful rooster and hen with proper crests worthy of the cream legbar name. But- in that effort- a rarity of a crestless chicken can occur.

We are focused on breed improvement, maintaining actual cream legbar feather colorations, and yellow legs.

Please make sure you have read our Shipping & Farm Pickup Agreement on hatching eggs and chicks. By purchasing, you agree to those terms and understand that shipping is risky with such products. Please ensure you have selected enough chicks—reminder: our boxes are big, but our minimum is four regardless of pickup or shipping. Due to the recent price increase from USPS  with perishable items such as hatching eggs and baby chicks, we offer several options to fit your needs. We have two flat-rate options for up to 2 dozen hatching eggs. The cheapest option does not include insurance, and we do not state that they are perishable. This means if you have damage in shipping, there is no recourse through the USPS- nor do we offer refunds or replacements.  The other flat-rate option establishes that the eggs are perishable, and you can file an insurance claim if there is damage.    If you want more than two dozen, please purchase them separately.  We only ship baby chicks via Express- we feel they deserve that higher level of care.  We have established a flat rate pricing for up to 25 chicks.  This price includes a Horizon Chick shipping box, aspen pad, heating pads (if needed), gel, and feed.   Please be aware that all orders are custom, so if you want chicks, there is at least a 21-day wait.

We limit this offering to 10 pullet chicks. Rooster/Stags are free and no charge if purchasing a least 3 pullets.
