Let's hit it out of the park with these beautiful green eggs! These are first-generation Olive Eggers-- so they are considered what we call an F1. We have hand-picked our roosters, and they are from our dark-laying line of Black and Blue Copper Marans. We are using Cream, Blue, and Splash Legbars hens. The Blue and Splash Legbars are rare, so we are excited to offer these hybrids as they are one of a kind. We can determine the gender of the solid chicks at hatch- they are sex-linked.
** This combination can result in a splash olive egger. Unfortunately, those will not be able to determine gender at hatch. But in a few short weeks, cockerels are typically much larger than the pullets and easily determined at that point. These Splash Olive Eggers are stunners and gorgeous!
The following characteristics determine what gender your chick is: If they have a dot on their head, they are a cockerel. The solid-colored chicks are pullets. The splash chicks are lighter in coloration- yellowish with occasional spots. Some may have feathers on their feet.
This will be a perfect start for anyone wanting those gorgeous green eggs!! These would make a lovely start to a multi-generational flock.
Hatching Eggs: These will come as Blue Eggs and be marked F1 OE-- I will mark as SL OE.
Chicks= These will be banded, and detailed information will be included. If you purchase as chicks-- these will be sold as pullets except for the splash- these are not sex-linked and we cannot determine gender at hatch. The Splash was widely popular last season-- and most folks adored them regardless of gender.
If you order 10 pullet chicks- please understand that we are setting at least 20 eggs to ensure enough females. If you are okay with having splash olive eggers that are straight-run, please make sure you fill out the form below appropriately.
Please make sure you have read our Shipping & Farm Pickup Agreement on hatching eggs and chicks. By purchasing, you agree to those terms and understand that shipping is risky with such products. Please ensure you have selected enough chicks—reminder: our boxes are big, but our minimum is four regardless of pickup or shipping. Due to the recent price increase from USPS with perishable items such as hatching eggs and baby chicks, we offer several options to fit your needs. We have two flat-rate options for up to 2 dozen hatching eggs. The cheapest option does not include insurance, and we do not state that they are perishable. This means if you have damage in shipping, there is no recourse through the USPS- nor do we offer refunds or replacements. The other flat-rate option establishes that the eggs are perishable, and you can file an insurance claim if there is damage. If you want more than two dozen, please purchase them separately. We only ship baby chicks via Express- we feel they deserve that higher level of care. We have established a flat rate pricing for up to 25 chicks. This price includes a Horizon Chick shipping box, aspen pad, heating pads (if needed), gel, and feed. Please be aware that all orders are custom, so if you want chicks, there is at least a 21-day wait.
